Meet Our Pioneers
Bill DeShurko
Founder
Bio
Following his own research and work done with Professor Stan Eakins, Professor of Finance at East Carolina University, he built 401 Advisor, LLC. around the use of his proprietary trading models. These models are designed to take advantage of market opportunities while avoiding poor performing areas (including the entire market if necessary) to minimize potential client risks.
The Naked Truth About Your Money is a primer written for the Millennials to help them learn to responsibly handle their money. Furthermore, the book has great tips for anyone who wants to be a better money manager.
He is a sought-after public speaker, speaking regularly on financial planning topics for the Ohio Public Employee’s Retirement System (OPERS). He has also worked as a consultant with the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office in prosecuting investment fraud.
Investment Philosophy
To meet the needs of investors in today’s low-interest rate environment Bill has concentrated the firm’s investment management focus on dividend-paying stocks. Bill’s portfolios can be fine-tuned for high yields, rising income streams, or a combination of income and potential capital growth.
Bill feels that dividend-paying stocks and ETF’s are suited for all investors, but can be of special interest to retirees and other entities like trusts and corporate pension plans that are seeking higher income than available in typical interest-bearing investments.
Bill oversees the existing models, determines investments, and is consistently working to fine-tune existing models and researching new investment opportunities.

Jim Kilgore, CFP®
Bio
Jim took his own path to the financial services industry. He served on active duty in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in 2014. His passion for investing led him into the financial services industry after he retired from the Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, Jim volunteered every tax season for the tax center on base, which provides tax return preparation free of charge for military members. As a result, Jim’s extensive knowledge of tax preparation and tax planning for individuals and business owners, allows him to offer that as a valuable service to his clients.
Financial Planning Philosophy
A focus of Jim’s practice involves families with a special needs family member. Special needs financial planning is unlike the traditional “Money Magazine”-style financial planning where you buy a home, raise your children, plan four years of college education and retirement. Special Needs Financial Planning is preparing for two generations. Once the planning is in place, he understands the fiduciary responsibility and manages the money to help families work toward meeting both the parent’s goals and providing for the lifelong needs of their child with special needs.
Jim’s focus is on the comprehensive financial management process to build upon the accumulated wealth of clients while considering the need for capital preservation and family values. He holds series 6, 7, and 66 securities licenses as well as his life, accident & health and property & casualty insurance licenses.
Accolades, Affiliations and Interests
Jim is active in several non-profits and volunteers with his family in many community projects and activities. He is a board member for Project Rise Above and The Warren County Veteran’s Service Commission.
When Jim is not working, he enjoys woodworking, fly fishing, and hunting. Jim, his wife Laura and their six children live in Springboro, Ohio.
