Modeled after the ultra successful Harvard and Yale endowment funds, our flagship portfolio
(The ETF Endowment Portfolio) invests primarily in Exchange Traded Funds and individual
stocks. We allocate among non-correlated asset classes to provide a diversified, low cost
portfolio designed to outperform the market no matter which way the market is headed. Our
investment choices are not random, but are based on the research of William DeShurko CFP®,
President of 401 Advisor LLC, Professor Stanley G. Eakins (East Carolina University) and
Assistant Professor Samuel L. Tibbs (East Carolina University). That research and
subsequent paper entitled “Using Style Index Momentum to Generate Alpha” won the 2008
Charles H. Dow Award (Presented by the Market Technicians Association) for excellence and
creativity in technical analysis.

Based on that research, we have developed a computer based trading model that identifies
and ranks the investment categories that are currently outperforming “the markets” and have
potential for continued superior returns. This style index momentum provides a diversified,
index-based, low cost strategy that has outperformed on both a raw and risk adjusted basis.
Although past performance does not guarantee future success, it's comforting in today’s market
to invest using proven techniques.

To put it simply, our strategy is designed to purchase and sell the right investments at the right
time. Unlike many “financial advisors” we monitor our portfolios on a daily basis and know
what each client owns each and every day. Doesn’t it make sense that the person you have
trusted your money with know what you own, and actually keeps an eye on it?

Traditional investing (pushed on you by the mutual fund industry and practiced by 95% of the
industry) tells you to buy a little bit of all the asset classes and hold on to them in good and bad
markets. Why would you buy all the asset classes when you can identify the top performing
asset classes and attempt to stay only in those? Since top performing asset classes can
typically outperform the worst performing asset class by more than 30% in a year, our strategy
can potentially add significant returns to your portfolio versus a “buy and hold” strategy.
